Fuel Injectors

Fuel Injection

Fuel Injectors, device incorporated into the emissions system of an automobile that reduces the amount of pollutant's in the automobile's exhaust gases. Lead-free gasoline must be used in automobiles that have fuel injectors; other-wise the fuel emission system will not function properly. Since the 1970s, state and national governments in the United States have passed increasingly stringent emission- control measures.
Oxygen Sensors and fuel injectors must be maintained properly. To meet these emission standards, since the early 1980s, all new cars sold in the United States have been equipped with fuel injection systems.

Technical info:

Fuel injectors have always been a fairly high-tech device, even though their function and operation is fairly simple. Functionally, an electric fuel injector is nothing more than a solenoid valve, and all it needs to operate is just the right voltage and current at the right time -- no problem for a computer. Mechanical injectors are poppet valves, and the fuel pressure and flow that operates them also is easily controlled by a computer. But before modern materials and computer-controlled production equipment were available, it wasn't even possible to make gasoline fuel injectors as we know them today. If you think about what it takes to make those tiny passages, intricately shaped pintles, precision-ground valve seats and closely calibrated springs, it's easy to see that injectors are a very complex mechanical device. It's also easy to see how little it takes to clog those tiny passages. In fact, given enough time in service, almost every injector will eventually fail, often due to clogging.

Fuel injectors are manufactured to operate and last for 150,000-plus miles. Because of their significance on emission, some vehicle manufacturers warranty injectors for five years or 50,000 miles. However, over a period of time, harmful deposits can build up around an injector nozzle. Deposits can also build up inside the injector or clog the injector filter basket and reduce the amount of fuel being delivered. When the fuel delivery decreases, the injector pulse width will increase, creating additional heat in the injector. A leading cause of this is short-drive cycles. Short-drive cycles with repeated temperature change create fuel diffusion. The lighter gases evaporate and the heavier particles of the fuel settle at the tip of the injector. Engine heat then bakes the heavier particles, making them hard deposits. The deposits can clog an injector, reducing the volume of fuel delivered or distort the spray pattern. When the fuel delivery is out of spec, drive ability problems exist because the power train control module (PCM) is unable to maintain the proper overall air/fuel ratio. Some injectors may be commanded by the PCM to go richer or leaner depending on if the problem injectors are clogged or leaking.

Prior to the mid 1980âs most cars were fueled through a carburetor system. Now most vehicles have fuel injection systems. This is a more efficient way to deliver fuel to the engine. Fuel injectors have less problems and adjustments than carburetor. However, there is still maintenance that needs to be done. These generally last a long time, but a frequent problem is clogging. This can be remedied by using an injector cleaning recommended by the owner's manual. The majority of the time, however, a professional flush is necessary to clean the injectors. In addition, it will also improve fuel economy, increase horsepower, remove gum and varnish, and lubricate upper cylinders. Replacing the fuel filter every 25,000 miles will also help keep the fuel injection system clean.

  • Fuel Injection systems must be maintained.
  • Oxygen sensors must be checked every 35,000 miles to ensure full functionally.
  • Fuel emission's systems should be checked yearly. And replaced as needed. To increase gas mileage
  • gas filters, fuel filters, import auto parts,Tune up parts,Fuel injection parts. All must be maintained.

In the Fuel injection parts market. we believe there is no better product than Bosch fuel injector's and fuel pumps. We maintain a vast inventory of these and other Bosch products.
